MA Ye

BIOGRAPHY

Behind the simple tinge and perfectly harmonious integration of beings and natural scenery, there is a very strong irony in Ma Ye's paintings. Ma points out, "We are living in a virtual networking period recently. Relationship between people is aloof and weak with a wall; people feel strange with each other. Thus, I use a weaker technique to blur the characters."

In Ma's paintings, beings are essential, young and romantic; at the same time, they are vague, decadent, and intemperate. Those young ladies not only represent the aggressive humanity, but also reveal a certain ironic fight with a little meaning of jocosity. The collocation of the ancient Chinese landscape and architecture background, and undressing ladies describes the harmonic peace between the old culture and modern culture at a same space, and mostly the introspection of Ma Ye towards contemporary China.
