Suo Tan mainly focuses on sculpture. However, there are paintings on sculptures; also in his paintings, there are sculptural images. Consequently, the taste of two-way reading is formed. When audiences are enjoying the sculpture, they are able to see the scene as well.

Suo concerns about the influences of nature, culture, society and vogue towards people. Recently, there are more and more connections between China and the World. Through his artworks, Suo Tan tries to express the mutual relationship when "East meets West" under the globalization. In his oil paintings, he appends "Chinese Ink and Wash style" into his paintings, in order to reveal the new complexion after the mergence of two different cultures.
