Over ambition of modern people towards materials results materialism fully. People chase after materials; they enjoy and wallow willingly. Chasing after materials gives people sensual enjoyment and made them wallow willingly. Nevertheless, filling up the material abysm crazily, perhaps, only temporarily anesthetizes people's spirits. Moreover, modern people choose to live in a popular style, in order to avoid the strangeness between person and person, or person and oneself. However, this kind of living only seems to mitigate agitation of people; it keeps people look mediocre.

Looking around in a crowd everyday, we see similar faces; even when we are looking into the mirror, we only see that people in the mirror feel lost. People are anaesthetized, when they are facing loneliness, oppression, agitation and confusion; modern people seem to get used to unbalanced circumstance.Chinese artist, Wu Xue uses a flower as a symbol of the predicament of modern people, especially women. Some women in metropolis, who we can call them material girls, do have strong desires towards material things; however, their loneliness and sadness are concealed behind vanity.
